The acquisition of the Lilly Chapel grain merchandising business towards the end of 2014 set a platform for developing a strategic grain merchandising business in the Ohio region. The focus of the business is on trading both corn and soybeans at the facility. During the first full year of operations 50,000 tons of corn and 60,000 tons of soybeans were merchandised at the facility.

 

During 2015 the business took on the contract of procuring all the corn needs of the Three Rivers Energy and Plymouth Energy bio-refinery. As part of this effort a number of strategic partnerships were set up during the year with some local merchandisers to enable the business secure sufficient corn at a competitive price. The corn needs of the bio-refinery will be circa 1 millions tons per annum.
